Ok lets start on SEO - Search Engine Optimization. Assuming you've chosen a keyword-rich domain and website, SEO will work to your advantage in Google. Once you've listed your site on Google just check that it's there.
So in Google search type site:yourwebsite.com and instead of seomoz type in your website. The main website should at least show when you search. Google has added the site. If it's not up, do this...
1. Head to Yahoo Answers. Signup, get an account and answer some questions. When you do leave a link on the answer but make it relevant to the question.
2. Head to Youtube, post a video and leave a link on the video description.
This will most likely fix your problem and your website is now on Google after a few days.
Now to SEO we almost always focus on three things...
1. Backlinks - The number of links pointing to your Website from other websites. Google has quite an emphasis on backlinks so you need a few. I'll show you how to get backlinks no worries.
2. Keywords (use SEO) - Your site should include most of the keywords in the Title, Headings and paragraphs. Google loves the Title and h1 h2 tags. Make sure you use them. This is essentially SEO, but work on placing these keywords.
3. Competition - This is optional however sometimes the competition is too great for the keywords. There are many huge websites out there reigning over tiny ones.
Google has a Pagerank system ranking sites from PR0 - PR9 or more. Google ranks sites according to both Backlinks & Keyword depth. You have to use optimization (SEO) and work on both those factors to increase your Google Pagerank.
I've compiled a list of websites that provide links to sites - see navbar. These are high ranking blogs, forums and directories which you can leave comments behind along with your special link. There's even some websites that Submit to thousands of others which is worth it.
There are many factors which contributes to your ranking in the Google search system, all of which you can do something about.
The main culprit is relevance, all Google is interested in is that the user gets what they want. They do this by
1. Analyzing keywords typed and matching them to the website.
2. The website's popularity or 'Page Rank', which is determined by 'Backlinks'. Popularity is traffic.
Backlinks are basically links from other sites to your site, though you want a few of those to become 'known enough' for Google. You can get backlinks by leaving traces of your website URL on forum posts, Yahoo answers or even Wiki answers for instance.
In the guide "Optimize a Website for Google", we will try and make your website rank up there in the top searches pronto.
Want to list a Website on Google? It's actually really simple to list something on Google. After you list your website, check to see if Google actually lists it.
Let's cut to the chase, head to Google.com/addurl and basically type in your website and you're done!
Now all you do is wait and see if Google lists your website. Google doesn't actually guarantee they will list it, but you can help by making back links for Google to recognise it. There are other little factors such as site popularity and relevance which also determines your website ranking on Google.
Once all is done you can head to Google Webmaster tools and add your site there also. You can look after it from there. Good luck listing your website.
